Book Nook: How To Talk So Little Kids Will Listen

How To Talk So Little Kids Will Listen by Joanna Faber and Julie King

This book is written by the daughter of the author from How To Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk and her childhood friend who's mother also took part in the workshops. This book was just released about 10 days ago. I pre-ordered it because I can already see some issues creeping up with Everly. I really enjoyed this book.
The main idea I got from this book was to really try to put yourself in your child's shoes in order to deal with them. Think of things through their little eyes and perspective before judging too harshly. Be sure to talk about feelings, let them know you understand them. This step seems key to change behavior. Accepting their feelings helps kids improve and move on. Involve your child in problem solving and coming up with solutions to their misbehavior. Be true to your feelings as a parent and let your children know how you feel. I'm so glad I purchased this book and I know I'll refer to it frequently. I definitely recommend it for those parents with little kids who need help handling tantrums and other daily experiences.
