Family Pictures

When Everly was born I wanted to have newborn pictures done. We had a lady come to the hospital the day after she was born to take pictures and I didn't like how any of them turned out! I kept telling myself once Everly turned one we would have a nice photo shoot done of her and sneak in some family pictures as well. Family pictures are so important to me! I want to have nice family pictures done periodically throughout or lives because I just love looking back on them and remember what life was like at that time. I shopped around online for several weeks before deciding which photographer to go with. I needed someone
  • who was qualified!!
  • affordable
  • who would give me the digital copy of all the photos
  • who would photograph Everly individually, Sam and I together and the whole family for the same flat rate
I didn't think it would be too hard to find someone who met all my qualifications...but it was! Goodness!! I finally decided to go with Foto Fly based on their website and also a personal recommendation from a friend. We chose the Thanksgiving Point location (they opened up a downtown Salt Lake City location after our shoot that I'm going to have to try next time!!). I'm happy with how our pictures turned out for the time (one hour) and price ($125)  I paid. We ended up doing the photo shoot at the beginning of May so technically Everly was only 11 months and not one but it just worked out better for us schedule wise and I wanted to Everly's pictures for her birthday party invitation.
One of the most stressful parts of family pictures for me is choosing outfits for everyone that are affordable, match, are cute but also won't look totally outdated in 20 years. I decided to go with a denim theme. We bought Everly a cute little denim outfit at Costco that worked perfectly. Obviously, Sam and I had jeans so the challenge came in buying shirts that worked with Everly's outfit and each other's outfits. I found a sale at Old Navy online (yes!). So I bought a white shirt for Sam that had denim color-blue strips and I found a nice denim type shirt for myself. They came in the mail and Sam's shirt ended up having a small red strip next to the blue strips and I was worried about how that would come out in the picture. Sam had a Banana Republic (our favorite) gray shirt that went well with my shirt so he used that. Here are just a few of my favorite family pictures:

This one is Sam's favorite but it's probably my least favorite of the family pictures :)

For Everly's solo photo shoot I wanted her to have a really cute outfit. I found her outfit on Etsy through Pinterest actually. It cost way more than I care to admit but it was worth it (according to me...probably not according to Sam!). She also wore the outfit to her birthday party and actually is wearing it right now. So it's not like she only wore it once!
