Newborn Guide

After I recently finished Happiest Baby On The Block, I had the idea I should make a little packet of notes to share with Sam all the things I want to implement with this baby. I also added info from Baby Wise to the packet and a few ideas from Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child in there as well (I just finished reading it for the second time). I don't like Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child as much as Happiest Baby On The Block or as much as Baby Wise but I still felt there were things I should implement from the book. I came up with five basic guidelines to follow.
  • Use the five S's (swaddle, side/stomach, shushing, swing, suck)
  • Focus on baby getting a full feeding at each feeding
  • Don't let baby fall asleep nursing
  • Put baby down for sleep in his crib while he's still awake but drowsy
  • Don't allow baby to stay awake for more than two hours at a time
My small note packet I made for Sam ended up being just over six pages:)! But there's a lot of good tips and things to remember from the books and I wanted an easy way to look over the information. We are so excited for our new baby to to begin to work on his sleeping and feeding!
