We spent a week with my family and then Sam flew out to join us for a three day weekend. Mostly it was a relaxing week with my family. We took a road trip to Springfield to see Abraham Lincoln's Presidential Museum and Library, his tomb and his home. It was so much fun! I thought the museum was well done and they even had a play area for kids. It was a dream come true! I never thought I'd find myself in the area to even go to the Lincoln Museum. I highly recommend it to anyone! Even if you don't like history I think anyone would appreciate the experience learning about Lincoln, what he did for our country and the distress this nation was under.
My mom took me in to Chicago one day with her friend Susan and we attended the Art Institute Museum. It was fun to learn about the art and to experience something that was new to me. We ate at a yummy Italian restaurant down the street!
Other than that we pretty much just shopped and ate! My family's two favorite hobbies.
When Sam got there we spent Saturday exploring Libertyville (where my parents live) and walking around their cute little downtown. On Sunday we drove in to the city and walked around with Everly (it was her first time downtown). We did the riverwalk and the weather was beautiful. It was sunny and 68 degrees. Ah....so nice for Chicago in winter. Sam then drove us to Oak Park where Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio is located. We walked around and saw the homes he designed and influenced. We also saw Hemingway's birth home. Monday we flew home which was uneventful. It was a lot easier to have Sam packing all my baggage everywhere so I only had to worry about Everly! It was a fun trip and our last trip on an airplane as a family of three!!
