Donut Falls
After Everly's blessing on Sunday, we decided to go on a hike on Labor Day. Usually during the summer, Sam and I get out and hike quite a bit. We usually get out our raft and float around some lakes/ponds/rivers. But since Everly was born I didn't have much energy to go out and about this summer. I was also worried about dragging a newborn around doing those activities. But by the beginning of September I wanted to do at least ONE hike for the summer. We just enjoy being outside so very much! We saw some of the Smallwoods at the blessing party and decided to go on a hike with them. Sarah and Ben also came as well. I have this little book about hiking trails in Northern Utah and there was one called Donut (or Doughnut) Falls. It's a little over three miles and you hike out to a waterfall here is more info. We decided this would be the best one. Since it was Labor Day it was crazy packed. I've never seen so many people on one trail, and I grew up going to Zion National Park where tons of people hike each year. We had to go the pace of everyone else on the trail. It was literally single file the whole way. I was okay with that though since it was my first hike after the baby:)!! It was a lot of fun. I packed lunch's for everyone and had Wade carry my pack! Sam carried Everly in the Baby Bjorn. She slept all the way there and woke up to play a little at the waterfall. Then she slept all the way back. That defiantly made us happy! Hopefully we can hike more often now. We also ran in to someone on the trail who knew Sam's sister Laurakay and her husband Abe from high school so that was funny. When you get to the waterfall, scale up the rocks to this cave where there is a hole at the top and water is coming down the hole in to the cave. I decided I didn't want to have Sam scale up there with Everly so I stayed at the bottom of the waterfall with Kait while everyone else hiked up. The pictures turned out way cool. I hope to go back one day so I can hike in to the cave.
