I'm a total sucker for Nicholas Sparks stories! When I heard about his new book coming out I per-ordered it before reading the story synopsis. I trusted him to write a love story that would be amazing. Sadly, he disappointed me. I did not like this book. Honestly, if it was written by someone else I probably would have liked it much more but I just expect so much from Nicholas Sparks and I was bummed this book wasn't as nearly as good as I thought it should be. It's defiantly my least favorite of all his novels (and I own them all).
The story is about divorce. It's from the husbands perspective and it's sad. There is a little girl involved in the divorce and the whole way it happened is just depressing. While the ending is actually positive and good (a little rare for Sparks) the whole book just made me feel down while I was reading it. There still is a love story and strong family stories as well so there's some happiness in the midst of divorce and depression but it wasn't enough to make up for the sadness of a marriage falling apart for no good reason. I just wasn't impressed by the story and I wished it was a beautiful romance that swept me off my feet like his novels usually do.
