Washington's Secret Six
Washington's Secret Six by Bian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger
I love history! Especially American history. It makes me so excited to read and learn about. I bought this book at Costco. I was on sale for like $9 and I just could not pass it up! Sadly, I thought it was going to be better than it was. I thought it would be more gripping. I mean it's about a spy ring after all that helped win the revolution. But writing about history is a tricky thing. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I just thought it would be more exciting and less like reading a history book. The last three or four chapters were the best part of the book. You get the excitement of the revolution and the 'proud to be an American' feeling that I love. The book followed the members of the spy ring and how they got information to each other and George Washington. They are true American heroes and risked so much to help the revolution while at the same time pretending to be loyal to the crown in order to get information. One of the members of the spy ring is still unknown. It's a female who was part of the group. I found that to be one of the most fascinating parts of the story. At the end of the book, the authors give several guesses as to who it could be so it's fun to come to your own conclusion.
Anyone who is interested in the American Revolution in the least bit would enjoy this book. It's a short quick read and I learned quite a bit about Washington. I actually didn't know much about the spy ring either so it was fun to learn something new.
