Discovery Gateway

I've been struggling a bit lately. I've had a lot on my mind and the snowy weather has had Everly and I cooped up inside way too much this winter. This past week I've decided for my own mental state I need to get out more than Walmart, Costco and the local library. I decided to try the Discovery Gateway Children's museum in downtown Salt Lake City and we used our zoo pass as well this week. I haven't been there since I was probably 15 years old and my parents took my younger siblings.
I was pleasantly surprised by the price. It cost just under $10 for me to get in and Everly was free. We went to the Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point last year and it was more expensive ($15). The Museum of Natural Curiosity had more to offer than Discovery Gateway but I really felt that Discovery Gateway had more for Everly's age. She was able to run around and play at each exhibit.

Discovery Gateway:
There's a fun exhibit with balls like from a ball pit. You can put the balls in a thing like at the bank that sucks your stuff to the teller and all sorts of fun things. There's a construction zone where kids can build things with foam blocks. There's a little house with a living room, kitchen and bedroom where Everly totally loved playing house. I think that was her favorite part. They have a little mechanic shop with a car kids can work on. There's a section for little kids under three that Everly liked and they had a nursing corner that I've got to keep in mind! There's a water play area, a farm with a chicken coop and garden and a little grocery spot. Upstairs is geared more towards older kids with a lot of building exhibits. Outside on the deck is a life-flight helicopter and the doctor stuff which Everly loved. Back inside is a huge foam area for kids to play in and then they have a 'move it' center where there's all sorts of games and activities to keep kids moving.

All in all, we really enjoyed our day there. Everly just loved running around, checking everything out and playing with the other kids. I've been considering purchasing an annual pass because Everly had so much fun and it's only 20 minutes from my house! It's so nice to have places to take her where she can run, play and enjoy herself. She doesn't like being at home and I need to get her out daily so it would help me to have somewhere fun to go!
